83rd Venice Film Festival | My Notes on Mars by Lili Horvát

The film “My Notes on Mars,” a TRT co-production, will have its world premiere in the Giornate Degli Autori section at the 83rd Venice Film Festival, the world’s oldest film festival, which will take place in Italy from September 2-12.

The film, which won the TRT International Co-Production Award at 12 Punto 2025[1], tells the story of what happens after Margot, a brilliant academic, mysteriously disappears during a hiking trip with her husband Sam and friends. She reappears, but changed, on the day of her own memorial service. She remembers nothing about her life — except her Mars research, which she is desperate to find and destroy. Clearly, she is not the same as before, yet Sam accepts Margot’s return as a second chance to rekindle their marriage and rediscover each other.

My Notes on Mars is an English-language science-fiction romance film written and directed by Lili Horvát and starring Rupert Friend and Mackenzie Davis with principal photography locations including Budapest, Vienna and the Austrian Alps.

Lili Horvát (born in 1987) is a Hungarian film director, screenwriter, and producer. Horvát studied audiovisual arts at Sorbonne Nouvelle University and film directing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest.
